ESPO is King! I know this is kinda old but fuck it! I’ve been wanting to post this as i’m a huge fan of the dudes work since the early NYC graffiti days.
Recently, Steve Powers a.k.a ESPO was commissioned to paint murals all over Philly, but apparently some of the locals aren’t too happy about the idea of the government funding an ex graffiti writer to paint on rooftop walls.. again.
There’s always gonna be haters. Though it’s not my city/town but seriously, all you haters can get fucked. I can only wish this was in my country and i think the way ESPO presented the show, “A Love Letter For You..” is simply brilliant. There’s even a map of where the murals are on the train line, the stuff he painted was awesome and it was also ‘showcased’ on Valentines day. It’s kinda like he was putting up giant sticky notes with written messages all over town and i’m pretty sure that made a lot of people smile.. which is exactly what we need more of.
Below is a little interview of him explaining what the entire project is about, how he and the community relates to the murals. This dude is mad inspiring.
