Van de Waal has graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2006.
His work is characterized by its direct and uncut nature,
a strong personal attitude and an undeniable graphic sensibility.
The inescapability of death and the transience of human existence
play a central role in his recent work. This inescapability is particularly
felt in moments of strong awareness of being alive.
Van de Waal reduces this to the essential, in black and white,
depicted in a parade of the grotesque.

Seems like a good time to visit Amsterdam(when is it not?!), as i’ve got a couple of friends traveling Europe now or is in the mix of a plan. Well, if you’re gonna be there in the next month or so, don’t wanna miss this!
